Elephant Pepper People

People are an integral part of Elephant Pepper and the Elephant Pepper Development Trust.  Meet the people working behind the scenes to bring the tastes of Africa directly to your kitchen table.

Michael Gravina
Michael (“Mick”) Gravina is the co-executive director of Elephant Pepper Development Trust. Mick is a serial entrepreneur whose commercial successes include an IT company in Melbourne, Australia. Mick has lived in Livingstone for four years.

Dr. Ferrell Osborn
Dr. Ferrell (“Loki”) Osborn the is co-executive director of the Elephant Pepper Development Trust. Loki is an elephant biologist who has worked in the Zambezi region of Africa for over 15 years. Loki is the primary scientist responsible for researching the impact of chillies on elephants. Originally from Louisiana, Loki now lives in Harare, Zimbabwe, and Capetown, South Africa, with his wife and two young children.


Daniel Zhuwakinyu
Daniel Zhuqakinyu is the operation manager for the Elephant Pepper Development Trust.  Danny has extensive experience in human wildlife conflict and has been with the project since its inception.


Catherine Chandenda
Catherine Chandenda is administration manager of the EPDT. Cathy joined the Zambian operation in 2003 and is currently studying for a export certificate in Germany. The EPDT has sponsored Cathy for twelve months to complete this undertaking.

Malvern Karidozo Malvern Karidozo
Malvern Karidozo studied Environmental Sciences (major in Wildlife and Rangeland Management) and Developmental Studies. He has been working on Human Wildlife Conflict issues for the past 6 years particularly experimenting and implementation of conflict mitigation programs that include the use of chilli, community guarding, bees and many other non-lethal wildlife deterrent measures. He has trained wildlife managers from different countries in Africa on Human Elephant Conflict (HEC) mitigation using the African Elephant Specialist Group (AfESG) certified training course co-developed by the Elephant Pepper Development Trust (EPDT).  Malvern is currently oversees the Research Department of the EPDT and is based in Livingstone, Zambia.
 



Elephant Pepper works with wildlife conservationists and farmers to bring economic and environmental stability to African communities while protecting the elephants we love.
